Legal Aid Derby
The firm name dates back to March 1st 1978 when the name was changed from Broadbent & Co. Established in Alfreton pre 1794, Broadbents solicitors are the successor practice to the firm of Wilson & Son. Until the death of Mortimer Wilson in the 1950s, the Wilson family had produced generations of qualified solicitors.
Following this the practice was purchased by Blakesley and Booth of Chesterfield, who installed Geoffrey Broadbent to run the office at Alfreton. In the 1960’s he split off from Blakesley and Booth and in turn changed the firm’s name to Broadbent & Co. This new firm continued to practice from 5 King Street before expanding and opening a second office at 16 King Street, Alfreton, in 1976. On January 1st 1986 the firm expanded by opening a branch office at 14 High Street, Heanor.
In July 1987 Geoffrey Broadbent retired and a consequence the firm consolidated its practice at 16 King Street Alfreton and 14 High Street, Heanor.
Over the course of the past 20 years the firm has grown and expanded with the opening of offices in Sutton-In-Ashfield in 1995, Derby in 2001, Chesterfield in 2002 and Heanor.

The firm now has seven partners and twenty four staff, who are committed to providing local access to legal representation in areas ranging from legal aid, criminal lawyer representation, matrimonial advice, family law and conveyancing.
